EFFECT OF VISCOUS DISSIPATION ON RESONANT INTERACTIONS AMONG GRAVITY WAVE PACKETS

摘要: 采用数值方法考察了粘性耗散对重力波波包共振相互作用的影响.结果表明,粘性耗散不仅衰减相互作用波的能量,而且强烈地影响波包之间局地能量的传递,使波包的形状发生进一步的改变.粘性耗散减缓相互作用过程的发展,阻止高波数的次级波与主波进行相互作用.在低热层高度上,耗散过程占支配地位,三波能量演变的特征发生了相当大的变化.大尺度主波通过与小尺度次级波的相互作用,更快地实现对大气的加热.Abstract: By using a numerical method the effect of viscous dissipation on the resonantinteractions among gravity ware packets is studied. It is shown that the viscous dissipation not only decays the wave energy but also strongly changes the local energytransfer between wave packets. Thus the energy distribution of each wave packet isfurther altered. The viscous dissipation slows down the development of interactionprocess and impedes a portion of secondary waves with high wavenumber to interactwith the primany wave.At the altitudes of the thermosphere the dissipation processdominates over the interaction the evolution characteristics of resonant interactionbecome remarkbly different. Through interacting with small-scale secondary wavesa propagating gravity wave packet can heat the atmosphere more rapidly.
