MAGNETIC DISTURBANCE DURING 1978-1988 AND THE SOLAR-TERRESTRIAL COUPLING

摘要: 用1978-1988年间行星际磁场(IMF)的Bz分量、极光区AL指数和赤道附近地磁台Z分量等资料探讨了日地耦合中的主要物理过程。Bz的11年变化大致与太阳活动程度相当,但AL和赤道附近ΔZ更多地受磁层和电离层内部过程所控制。分析中强调了对国际磁抗日按物理过程进行分类的必要性。Abstract: The data of IMF-Bz, auroral electrojet indices AL and ΔZ(the deviation of Z-component from geomagnetic quiet condition) near the equator during 1978-1988 are analyzed to discuss the solar-terrestrial coupling process. The results show that the 11-yearly variation of Bz is roughly corresponding to that of solar cycle activity. The variation of AL and ΔZ, however, are different. They are mainly controlled by physical processes in the magnetosphere and ionosphere. The international magnetic disturbed day(IMDD), chosen according to the Ap or Kp index, can represent the average level of the geomagnetic disturbance. The physical meaning of these indices, however, is nuclear. The disturbance level, the global feature presented and the physical process involved of IMDD from each month are different greatly. So, a new reasonable classification according to physical process is needed in futher study.
